Why is this a US issue? Why should we send warplanes to get shot down over there?Where’s the UN? Where’s NATO?

replied to the questions: “Where’s the UN? Where’s NATO?” with:“Waiting, as usual, for the US to play the world’s policeman.”

Ah, no. Read above. The USA, btw, is a founding member of NATO. It kinda runs that show, too. (so why ask"where’s NATO?". Americans must be a forgetful lot.

“The dems are being short sighted yet again when it comes to threats from over seas. They wait until it costs 10 times as much to survive as it would if they did something sooner.Like they did in WWII.Get out your burka’s and chador’s Democrat women/slaves to be, your men will surrender and convert rather then do anything to save you from the Islamic jihad jerks.”-I missed the part where you said just what it was that we ‘should do.’

We have a treaty obligation to Ukraine. In 1994 the US, Britain, Russia and Ukraine signed a pact respecting the borders of Ukraine. Well looks like Russia is ignoring that obligation. As to the defense of a treaty ally there are other options besides boots on the ground. Domestic strength would give us the resources to supply Ukraine with energy, equipment, training, intelligence data, etc. Sadly we can barely take care of ourselves so assisting Ukraine will be a difficult effort.
