Back when I was a grad student interning in a county medical facility, there was a sixteen year old boy in one room who had sustained a brain injury during a high school football game. He had been in a coma for over a year. His mother came too visit every day…she would sit in a chair by his bed, knitting, with tears running down her face. Every day. He was not expected to recover.
