Good morning to cpalmeresq and VistaBill. The movie character looks familiar, too, but I can’t quite place it. He also looks like the newspaper-reading spy who has shown up in a couple of strips.Annie’s popcorn container comes with a folded lid. Is that another detail from the 1940s?

The Green Hornet, maybe? Another cross-over in the works?

Goodness me, Tracy’s chin is even more exaggerated (panels 2, 3)! And Annie knows about the Wrist Wizard, so she’s a thoroughly modern kid! Clues are piling up in this graphic sequential art even as our protagonists view WW II propaganda sequential art….

As Jonathan K pointed out, the Masked Marvel on the screen reminds us of the “man with the hat” who appeared in the background on August 16, 24, and 31. Of course it isn’t, but it may be a device used by Team Tracy to get us to watch the “man with the hat” more closely because he is an important character in the story.

I want the old art back, it was much cleaner, and I prefer King of the Rocketmen.

I love the “guest appearances” we’ve been getting of some lesser-know serials.I got to see a lot of serials on TV when I was kid, and this just adds to the enjoyment I’m getting from this story.(Will we see “the Perils of Nyoka” next?)

Well, with this additional NEWS on Prof. Kenyon – - there goes my theory of a parallel plan by Alex - working on Time Travel !

Unless, one can simply do a Dr. Noll - and somehow ’ EXPLODE- into the future ! ?

Annie knowing of the Wrist Wizard ?

    Not likely !

She disappeared in mid June 2010, and back then, the Wrist Wizard hadn’t been invented, what Tracy and crew used, was called the Wrist Geenee !

And now, here’s your trivia question for today: Who was the Green Hornet’s famous uncle? Hint: There have been radio shows, TV shows, and movies as recently as last year about him.

It’s ironically sad that clarke3060 can post a comment referencing an old joke with vulgar innuendo attached to it and even repeat it 5 times (on purpose or accidently, doesn’t matter) with apparently no fear of repercussion from the Tracyville law yet Still Da Man! is Still Da Banished Man! without ever getting an explanation as to why. Looks like the hands of justice swing whatever way they feel like, regardless of right or wrong.

clarkes comment was funny, and not offensive to me because it basically points out the absurdity of a grown man attending movies with a little girl without attracting attention of any kind….if this happened in real life, Tracy would be answering questions posed to him bigtime, lol

I’m not sure that I understand the recent debate concerning the artwork. Some have suggested going back to the original(?) art while others have praised it as “spellbinding.”

Joe Staton has stated in interviews that when he does crossovers, he attempts to pick up on the style of the original artist and it is obvious that Joe is doing that here. However, Harold Gray was no great shakes as an illustrator. Joe, who is a much better artist than Gray, had little to work with as far as imitating Gray’s style. He has attempted to encompass the shadowy, crosshatched feeling Gray portrayed while bringing his own style in my opinion—and I believe very well.

Consequently, we have two slightly different styles in this particular arc: Joe’s normal style in the scenes featuring Sam, Lizz, Chief, and the normal DT characters; and the Faux Gray style for the scenes in Simmons Corners.

This particular arc is a crossover between two major comic strip icons which made headlines nation wide. It is my belief that Joe’s decision to encompass these two styles within his artwork only enhances the story for both DT and the orignal LOA fans.

I happen to like the artwork and still don’t see the reason for the debate.

Concerning the Wrist Wizard not being around in 2010 when Annie was kidnapped. That was 4 years ago. If Annie is 12 now (and this is pushing it), she would have only been 8 when she was kidnapped. Now we all know years don’t mean anything in the comics. So rather than say Annie was kidnapped 4 years ago, it would most likely be within the past year when it had been invented and she would have known about it. Or, there again, there is more conversation between Tracy and Annie than we made aware of. I am sure somewhere (off panel), Tracy has asked Annie many questions including how long she has been there and how she got there.

I’m glad I could help by identifying The Masked Marvel. As a longtime fan of those classic serials that character’s very distinctive mask was easy to recognize.
