The cracks don’t matter too much as long as most people care more about holding the whole together than about hogging all advantages for their own particular piece. Nothing widens the cracks so much as people with rigid “principles” who disdain pragmatic compromises in their pursuit of absolutist “ideals.”

Wayne LaPierre was right. We had a guy with no gun, but we know he was a bad guy anyway. And a good guy with a gun shot him dead. Case should be closed. But we need more good guys with more guns to keep the bad citizens without guns in line. That’s working out splendidly. I will never doubt Mr. LaPierre again.

People who throw Molotov cocktails are attempting to commit murder. True, their odds would be better if they were throwing hand grenades or thermonuclear devices, but still………
