Elected officials should be held to a higher standard. They all spent time and other peoples money to get the job, promising noble work and damning their opponent. If they screw up, tough, fire them. Maybe the word will get out that election is not a blank check.
The veto was legal, the blackmail was the crime. The Public Integrity Unit is under the DA in the organization charts, but being a state-funded body is essentially independent in function. Gov. Goodhair, having no public integrity, was covering himself. A half century ago, this body got rid of an attorney general with a long record of looking out for the people, on grounds so arcane that it took two days for the media to find a lawyer who could explain what it was – and even then it made no sense.
