The original name could be in fact paix de nonne (nun’s peace). The two words are prononced the same way in French. The story goes that it was created by a nun to offer to an ennemy convent, as a sign of peace.

The other story, going with the word pet (fart), is that one day in a convent kitchen busy at work for a feast, a young apprentice nun gave a long and prolongued fart, and was so embarassed that she let fall a spoonful of dough into a recipient full of bubbling fat. And voilà.

The next time I let one in the kitchen, I’ll say I’m trying out a new recipe. What is “Old Farts Fart” in French?

Our 18 month old grand-daughter has performed the entire musical composition, “The Three Bagatelles”, with no mistakes. (Believe It Or Not)

Rumeysa has Weaver Syndrome. She uses a walker due to weak muscles and bones caused by that disorder. She has a Google site at: https://sites.google.com/site/rumeysagelgi/english/home

Interesting that the naughty version of the story prevailed over time (the story pointed out by cabalonrye) rather than the nice version.

At least the composer did not to contend with Emperor Joseph II’s complaint to Mozart that one of his pieces had too many notes!
