It doesn’t seem like he was calling her either. Looks like this isn’t exactly a hot & heavy romance - more like he’s a last resort when she has nothing better to do.

No, no, no! He accepts the situation. I think he’s a very sweet person.
I’ve always thought that for Val, being with Phil was a special treat, one she wasn’t able to have very often. “Nothing better to do” indeed!
Does anyone read Luann? Her brother has a girlfriend (Toni), who is also very busy, and they don’t get as much time together as they would like. That relationship also seems to be serious.
I get Luann at The Seattle Times. There are probably other websites that have it as well.

Rina ;-) There are SOO many of us who read Luann at Comics.com, there are often over 100 comments on weekday board lately. Some people were getting snarky and inappropriate though, so the site stepped in. One of “those people” even flagged me, but I cleared it up.
And I agree with your comment on Val and Phil, too- plus she has to be careful what she does with young, impressionable daughters around.

Tune in tomorrow when he arrives and the kids come back 10 seconds after he arrives.

Fairport, that’s JUST what I meant ;-) I tried to date soon after my divorce, but it was really difficult - and I had 4 (not just 2) and mine were all close to a year apart. Now they all have their own familys and I have grandkids from 6.5 - 20years old.
