Y’know…fair’s fair. The courts should order EVERY state that’s been Gerrymandering their congressional districts to redraw them. And that includes the ones that have been Gerrymandering congressional districts in order to favor the Democrats.I’m sure nobody on, the left OR the right will disagree with that one
It should be a simple task to redraw congressional districts by computer program using only census data and an algorithm which seeks a minimum perimeter, and equal population. No other data need be included.
What it means is that the districts are drawn based on what side of the street the voters live on. This is why the districts you see have all sorts of jagged edges, and go in several different directions. Districts can be 200 miles long and 5 miles wide, if the people who draw them want to. And they do, to effect the situation that bakana correctly describes.
It occurs to me that this may demonstrate how Democrats will come around to criticize the executive overreaches we see in the Obama administration when a Republican is elected President. After all, in this case Republicans are playing according to rules created by Democrats – but no mention is made of that fact. I suspect a convenient amnesia will apply to Presidential actions as well.

That’s not how it works.
