I’ve read most of Calvin and Hobbes’ comic albums, but every now and then I get treated to a story I’ve never seen before… this is among the best.

Calvin shoould get a gold star for his creativity. It’s too bad that Hanna’s grandson, Gordon, in the present “Mary Worth” arc isn’t that way. He just turns on the TV and uses the remote the minute he enters his grandmother’s home.

@The Life I Draw Upon: It’s a reminder that even though Calvin’s parents are fictional, they are human. (I think that’s right……)

I don’t usually post here because there’s just so many comments. If this has been thought of before then excuse my ignorance..Do any of you think that Susie and Calvin are really mom and dad as they were when they were kids?

They also take complaints and decide if they want to fine stations. But we watch so much unregulated cable, it doesn’t make much difference. Children’s entertainment TV has entirely moved to cable because broadcast TV was required to provide a certain number of hours of educational TV. Capndunzzl, careful what you wish for.

Much, much better than the political ads the stations have been playing for the past 16 months.

I had to go back and read today’s strip again! I am overwhelmed with Calvin’s honest integrity as he promotes the sponsor’s product! If this isn’t truth in advertising, I must not understand the definition..“Sugar Bombs” contain absolutely nothing healthful! You’re gonna love em…

@Marty241: Calvin wouldn’t need a Hobbes if his dad were there for him more? Whoa — that’s a scary thought. Then the strip would be called, “Calvin and Dad.”Hmmmm……. I can see it all now:Calvin and Dad up in the treehouse throwing water balloons at Susie, until Mom catches them in the act and makes them come in the house………Calvin setting off to the North Pole with Dad in tow, on their way to see Santa………Calvin and Dad pushing the car out of the garage and down the driveway into a ravine, when Mom isn’t looking……….Dad with tuna-fish breath……..Hmmm……… I just don’t know……..

@MatureCanadian: Thanks, but I’m not the cartoonist. I’m just one of the characters. One of the characters posting here, that is. I hope Bill Watterson reads your comment.

@Number Six: That’s right — eight and a half years, plus a little bit. It just seems like more because some of the strips have been rerun 37 times. OK, so I exaggerated somewhat…..On January 1st, we will begin reading reruns of the final year of Calvin and Hobbes.

@Number Six: Yes, Bill took two Christmases off. Sabbatical #1 was from May, 1991 through January, 1992.Sabbatical #2 was from April through December, 1994. That’s the period we are in now, from April through December of this year, reading the reruns that appeared in the newspapers during that 9-month period in 1994. GoComics is being faithful and re-running the actual reruns for us from that period, so that we don’t have to read the wrong reruns of reruns.
