The “insurgents” would have taken that opportunity regardless of when troops withdrew. The war was lost before we invaded the nation that had nothing to do with the attacks on our country.

The lesson from Viet Nam should be that sometimes the smart move, if you won’t leave folks alone, is just lose the war as quickly, and in the least costly manner, needed to let them run themselves, without our “help”.
It took Pearl Harbor for FDR to put the USA into WW2.it took Bin Ladin’s 9/11/01 for Bush to put the USA into the Global War of the anti-Israel and anti-America Muslim Brotherhood spawns in the world who are doing mass murders all around the world.-I believe the “good” should defend against the “evil”…and Jihadism is evil which should be an unquestioned fact in normal minds. Why would any moral human support terrorists who use children and even pets who don’t know what they are doing, in suicide bombings? Who use homes, schools, mosques, as missile storing and missile firing sites?-As a Christian, Romans 13:3-4 sums up the good versus evil;“For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil…..For he is the minister of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid; for he bears not the sword in vain; for he is the minister of God to execute wrath upon him that does evil.”-That was what GW Bush did after Mideast terrorists trained in Afghanistan carried out the mass murder by crashing 3 airliners full of passengers into American targets, a very EVIL act celebrated wherever terrorists were hiding.

Good “Christians” have indeed capitalized on that, for 2,000 years as their REAL motivation. Oh, wait with the MIC, that real motivation uses the quote for proof their profits are “blessed by God”.
