Fetus’ never endings begin to develop at seven weeks gestation, but since the nervous system isn’t fully formed, it isn’t possible to determine if a fetus actually feels pain. That process takes around 23 – 25 weeks, well after most abortions.

Do folks have to use power mowers on the lawn to mask the screams coming from the grass? Eggs, even fertilized ones, aren’t chickens in the first few days after cell division begins, neither are human blastophore that haven’t attached to the uterus, or for some time thereafter.

Ovulation isn’t birth, but questioning whether that egg will make the 50% that do get fertilized and attach to the womb, is immediately a person, and answering that it IS, isn’t far off.

By your argument, every time you have a glass of wine or take a tylenol, you cause your body’s cells pain! STOP DOING ANYTHING.

Before the fetus has a nervous system connected to the brain, before the brain is developed enough to have brain waves, then actually, it is a very safe assumption that it cannot perceive pain. When someone at the end of their lives does not have brain waves, does not have nervous system communication to a functional brain, then we are quite certain that they are not “feeling pain.” What special magic is there supposed to be which makes it function differently before development is complete?

All but the most right-wing ideologically driven groups of physicians and researchers have set the minimum, earliest possible time that a developing fetus can feel pain as after week 16 of development, with the likelihood of it only becoming significant after weeks 18-20. That is well before the vast majority of abortions, which happen when the only fully functional human with any level of consciousness is the mother — who oddly enough has a life worth worrying about as well.

But hey, if a false equivalency and false assertion can be used to support a right-wing talking point, well, that has never failed to happen.

We need to stop abortion so we’ll have more kids to deny health care to, to deny food to and to send overseas to be killed on GOP nation-building exercises.

Is the sky in your world placenta colored or are you just angry that you never get invited to these imaginary “Late Term Abortion Celebrations” that you are asserting? No refreshments are served because such a thing doesn’t exist.
