Michigan State University offers a course on how to survive a zombie apocalypse. The 570 FT tall monument to the Texas Revolution in San Jacinto, Texas, is taller than the Washington Monument, and more than 3 times taller than the Statue of Liberty. The Proboscis monkey eat so much that it stomach contents can make up a quarter of its body weight. It stomach has four parts, enabling it to regurgitate food so it can chew and swallow it again, like a cow!

You may scoff at the zombie course, but the same methods can help you survive much likelier disasters. The zombie focus just makes it more interesting.
