Ahhh…in the 60’s Ford came out with the Ford Falcon Caliente. Best, most wonderfu, beautiful compact they ever made. Oh if only I had one today. I did buy a new Mustang in ‘66…it was a stick shift V8 and I was King of the Hill. If a car has an engine with a driveshaft (rear wheel drive), then it is a real car. Simple as that…….

I like the sign on the windshield–“Not a Toyota”.

That Falcon had a 144 cu in 6 in line…I could step inside the hood or go under to change the oil.

It was extremely “weird” how many very good cars, in excellent condition, were traded in under the program. Another “good concept, bad implementing” program, even the much-maligned “government” CAN do better.

I love the billboard sign, and TROUT is correct most of the cars traded in were not clunckers, but, if I remember correctly, there was something added to bill that ruled out a lot of real clunckers, – those of you with better knowledge can probably fill me in, but I think the clause was added at the requests of used car dealers.

Still this is a very fun cartoon to look and read – great job.
