The business owners used to pay decently not because they were good people but because they needed American workers to be able to make purchases. Now that we have a global market, this is no longer true and they are able to concentrate on pure profit. .That is one of the main reasons we had tariffs before the fatcats realized that, through “Free Trade,” they could eliminate any motivation for treating workers fairly. Of course, it began by exporting jobs to third world countries, but it also included a “let them eat cake” attitude here, where fast food companies and discount stores can get government assistance in the form of welfare to subsidize their lousy pay.

Democrats are good at many other things, but not at math.

The actual democrat’s scary goal is to have everyone dependent on the federal government from cradle to grave.

Democrats are a lot better at math (and all science) than Republicans these days, the major reason why scientists and academics are fleeing the GOP. Have you checked out Kansas lately? Turns out if you cut taxes you get less revenue. Who knew? If only someone had told Brownback that math is real! He thought it was a liberal hoax.

Agriculture used to employ close to half the population not is is a couple of percent. People then found jobs in manufacturing which employed nearly half the population. Manufacturing has become highly productive by restructuring, robots and computers. Soon a small percentage of the population will be able to produce all of the needed good and services. Now we have to figure out how to deal with the fall out.

What the Donkey is not telling you is that as soon as this wage hike is implemented, and everyone has become as rich as Bill Gates, the IRS will be tasked with increasing the tax rate up to 100%!

I would respect Democratic arguments for raising the minimum wage more if they addressed the point raised in this cartoon.

We need a law to guarantee everyone an above-average wage…/s

swr: you seem consistently to be another who constantly takes comments from Adam Smith OUT OF CONTEXT, and ignore what he was actually saying. Also increased minimum wage has never lead to job losses other than brief reactionary businesses weeping over their profits, but indeed employment rises when people can afford to BUY products, and sales INCREASE. Sorry, but that’s the way it works OVERALL. I WILL concur that some individual states, like mine, DO have poorly put together minimum wage laws that don’t take into account local economies and sales potential, especially in small, remote, communities, but that doesn’t apply in bigger cities with higher sales volumes and larger populations.

This is not what you would call a subtle cartoon. It has to be the stupidest one I have ever seen on this website. Maybe it is an indication of the audience Stantis is playing to.

And we should listen to you because you are member of the GOP? I thought not. Then we should listen to you because you’re as factual and honest about the GOP as Hitler was regarding the Jews. I think we would sooner believe any of the goobers from SNL.
