Bad artistry?

as someone wrote somewhere else……………….. in the past they had big heads because they thought they knew everything, but now they know that what they know is so little

Well, to be fair, 1985 was still a time where if one wore their “shades”, they were considered “cool”. That’s what Greg was first going for, with Delta. Luann and Bernice were “tragically unhip”, and no one else came along with the “suave” (before there ever was any “swag”). Had TJ come along then, he probably would have had them, too. If Brad wasn’t such a loafer then, he would probably have had them…..

I think the point of today’s strip is that the three girls have grown up…Hopefully, something more significant will be happening next week!

For ultimate weirdness, how about going to your 45-year high school reunion and everyone else looks no different than on graduation day? And even wearing the same clothes…

Did a lot of stuff today…a good thunderstorm cooled the air (although it is still humid!). IS Katie didn’t like the storm, however, and she flew down the stairs and stayed there until it was over. Don’t blame her seeing as the storm was Loud! And, on that note, ’Nite all! I’m not going to my 45-year reunion next year, so I won’t have any chance of being in such a TZ type of situation. In all seriousness, I only went to my 5-year reunion, and that was strange enough for me!

In looking at the Jeopardy “Battle of the Decades”, one can notice not only changes in people over time, but also changes in overall appearances of everything .. Notice the shapes of glasses that everyone bought then and now, the patterns/colors worn, the “acceptable” stylings of hair, etc., even what is considered “state of the art” in vehicles, appliances, paint colors/house fixtures, lighting, TV effects, etc……

And don’t forget the Sheena Easton Song for that James Bond movie about a bunch of nerds who get revenge: “Four Eyes, Only”…

I once wrote about how big the heads were in “Luann Againn” and I was informed by a very helpful person that that’s the case with children (yeah even 13 year olds). Funny—some people will defend a choice even Evans himself thought better of and abandoned….

This strip is coming to an end, isn’t it? It sure seems like that’s what it’s getting at.

“Why were our heads so big?”*Easy, Bern. They had to be big to contain all the knowledge you had. Remember, 12-year-olds know EVERYTHING!

And think how much smaller your heads will shrink to three years after college graduation.

Take a good look at a little kid. They really are about 1/3 head, 1/3 torso and 1/3 legs.

I can assure you there are several weeks of work in the pipeline. But my crow’s nest goes only so high. Greg seems invigorated by new challenges, and upcoming developments are opening lots of doors for fresh story lines.

4th Wall time…

There needs to be a new convention in storytelling – a fifth wall. Let me think about that.

Delta should be asking Bernice what’s with her hair. Sorry, but choppy bobs look good on exactly no one.

Well, girls, you need to address your panel 3 questions to Mr. Evans. You know, the Creator, the one who made you what you were and what you are?

Is this comic winding down its run?

Yes, please Greg, address the ever wandering eyebrows that Luann and Tiffany both are in danger of loosing if there is a breeze.

Perhaps Greg is going the way of Lynn Johnston and will decide that there is no need to go any further with their lives and will do retrospective strips. Gunther is gone, Delta is leaving, Mr. Fogarty is gone and who knows what will happen to TJ. I don’t think he’ll wind up going to jail, but his claim denied for some reason and when Brad & Toni finally get married, (which could signal the end), he will be out of the house. IMO, it just feels since Greg’s daughter has had more involvement in the strip, the way the arc’s go, they seem strange.

@JPuzzleWhiz-I like your idea of an interactive ‘toon, but it would probably be on Fakebook. So I couldn’t participate…

Luann and her friends — and I — must be the only people who get lost in the past, reliving school memories, during the summer after graduation. Greg is writing about real life here, not ending the strip.

Interactivity? Ah, the “Luann” video game, where you get to guide the characters through their daily life. It could be a best-seller, just to make sure that TJ stays on the exploding food truck.

OR if multiple characters are being written out, like Delta, Fogerty, etc.

And “permanently” vs. “temporarily…” It would seem Fogarty is permanent. I’m not sure about the others. I’m a little concerned with all the fanfare Delta is getting this week (i.e. that it might be more than just “temporary”). Then again, Gunther and Rosa had an equivalent send-off, and I hope we still hear from them again.

Of those that remain, I think TJ & Delta will be gone, if only temporarily. Bernice, Quill, & Tiff will be at Mooney, so I’d expect to hear from them regularly. Not sure about Knute and Crystal, but I hope to see them also. The others don’t matter (to me anyway). :-)

What was his role in the old cast list? Insofar as I could tell, his main function was just to show that no matter how lazy or dumb anyone in the strip acted, there was always one person who was lazier and dumber.

I just can’t picture what might be Knute’s role in the revised cast list.

Actually, I could see him working Weenie World, and being there when all the gang gather there. Crystal, of course, will have her own Goth boutique.

I’ve referenced the most recent Q&A he had just after the Reubens on here… but as you and several others have stated, the question still gets asked…..

I must also point out, that as much as people lament and loathe Facebook (though there are some good reasons to be wary of it, but not the ones that most would think), it is a place that will show that Greg intends to keep the strip going…. – Not to mention the place where that question can be directly asked and answered…..
