Well all I gotta say is I am not a wine connoisseur. However, our landlord in LV, gave me a bottle of Beringer’s white zinfandel for Christmas and that’s all I drink when I want wine. My mother drank good wines, and not so good wines.
I had a wine once in the restaurant of the Mandarin Hotel in San Francisco that tasted like I was drinking a tree! (I loved it). Of course, I didn’t mark down the name and I keep searching for an uber-woody wine. My faves.
Very good wine is very good. I’ve enjoyed that a few times (when someone else was buying!), but the big difference between good and not-so-good wines comes at a lower price point. I can tell the difference between a $2.99 bottle and a $12 bottle but not the difference between a $12 bottle and a $30 bottle. A friend who could afford the $30+ range and sometimes drank into the $100+ range said the same thing.
