One of the few interactions between Meg and “Papa” Arlo and Arlo unwittingly makes a septic joke?

She must live near my old farm neighborhood…which I enjoyed more than my present urban home….ahhh, the good old days….

“Green acres is the place for me.Farm livin’ is the life for me.Land spreadin’ out so far and wideKeep Manhattan, just give me that countryside.”.“New York is where I’d rather stay.I get allergic smelling hay.I just adore a penthouse view.Dah-ling I love you but give me Park Avenue.”

    “…The chores.”“…The stores.”“…Fresh air.”“…Times Square”.“You are my wife.”“Good bye, city life.”“Green Acres we are there.”

There is another saying I think StoicLion was referring to—“the grass is greener over the septic tank”. I believe it was also the title of a book by the late Erma Bombeck, who once wrote a newspaper column.

    RE: CFinFL’s comment:

Erma Bombeck’s column was a generally light-hearted view of parenthood and suburban living. Her book, “The Grass Is Always Greener Over the Septic Tank” was a play on the old adage. Anyone living in a town with no city sewers knows (or knew, at the time the book was published) that this was one of the great suburban truths. My parents front lawn got too much sun and had very little shade. The only place the grass was consistently green was over the septic tank leech field. I guess Erma’s twist has become more commonly known than the original. It has certainly gotten more laughs over the years.
