It’s always a little disconcerting to have a tiger leap on you as you walk under a tree.Hobbes hides up in the tree and waits, hoping that Calvin won’t look before he leaps.

@leftwingpatriotI doubt anyplace ever was safe. I was knifed and left for dead at a racially troubled school in hte ’60s….

This reminds me of my step-niece who worked with the pygmies in Africa. She appreciated the honesty that prevailed in their culture even though it was delivered with no great deal of tact. No political correctness there. They told her that they felt sorry for her because she was so ugly that no man would have her for a wife. She was white, tall (even by western standards), and too skinny (by pygmy standards – who apparently prefer their women on the plump side).

They also thought that Americans and Europeans were dumb. You couldn’t leave them alone in the jungle for a minute without them getting into trouble.

And in a sense, they’re right!

Calvin probably thanks his lucky stars that he doesn’t live in the jungle.

Are the males like lions, i.e. the females do all the work while the male does nothing but eat,* sleep, shtup, and occasionally fight with outsider males who want his cushy job.

always getting first go at the prey, whilst thefemales and cubs wait till he deign to give them his left-overs.want his cushy job?

I guess that would depend on how one defines “good at it” — the ones that survive must be good enough at it, yes?

@flagmichaelWent through that in the 70s. We call them “the bad-old days.” Saw racial tension going in multiple directions. Just had to hope you weren’t in the outnumbered group.

Calvin and his pet tiger Hobbes are outside playing a game when Hobbes comes out the tree like a jungle cat! Hobbes remarks that Calvin is not jungle material and Calvin says Hobbes is an idiot!
