The US is the third most populous country in the world. Most of the social issues in this country are that there are just too many people! Rising energy costs, rising food prices, no industrial base to speak of … we simply cannot sustain the population as it is now, let alone opening the borders. Not only do we need to enforce current immigration laws, we should consider limiting ‘legal’ immigration.
yes wolf great idea send the 5 year old kids into the field to harvest [ egads I sound like neoconman] predicts in 2015 the parents will be invited in and given piles of free goodies
Strangely, I find it difficult to find fresh fruit grown in America at the grocery store. Except for Rocky Ford cantalope in season, it is all from Mexico and south
You ever stop to think that each one of these children is a treasure? All we need to do is feed, educate and house them for a few years and we could have powerful American citizens, dedicated to the US and our way of life. Yeah, I know, we don’t even do that for our own children. What was I thinking. Listen folks, if a country sends you it’s best, smartest, strongest, most willing to work people, you accept them! This is a good thing for us. But we’ll screw it up, because we are closed minded, arrogant, ignorant and just plain too stupid to see a good thing.
Further on this topic, I think I was trying to say that sometimes we state a position as based on moral principles when it’s really based on advantage. Then when the situation changes and the advantage is no longer there, we abandon the principle. Then we look like hypocrites.
I’ve read a little about situation ethics, but I’m not so philosophically inclined — I don’t usually need to have things worked out to the bedrock (maybe because I’ve never found any bedrock). I try to have moral principles, and I also try to keep track of the fit between my principles and what I really do or think should be done. But I worry that moralistic talk can be a cover for self interest. And I think that’s happened a lot in US policy.
Why isn’t Mexico stopping these kids?We can’t even save the cats & dogs being eaten in countries that do that-China, Korea, Vietnam, etc), and probably kids, too. What kind of jobs do you want these kids to grow up to do, pick lettuce? Or, be a surgeon? How will they do that?Where are their parents? We have thousands of kids here, that need homes, & parents right now. Many countries killed children, so they wouldn’t grow up to fight them. As many US systems are overloaded already, this will add to that. Isn’t that what Hillary’ s thesis was about? Overloading our systems? If it hasn’t already, this will doom our country. That guy who buys fruits from southern countries, doesn’t know what he’s talking about. They are cheaper, to make you buy them, but have worse, unrestricted, pesticides in them. He must be from Boston, which is on the end of every food chain, except fish!!This sounds like an invasion.
