Oh, I bet this also happened long ago with Giga Pets and Tamagotchi hand-held, digital pet key chains (putting the gizmo in the bathtub full of water).

I remember when I was younger, they had these things called tamagotchis. they were little devices with accs on them, where it had a special virtual pet you took care of.
