Since there’s only one new strip each week, on Sunday, I wish GT wouldn’t waste it on Fox-bashing. Its repetitive, even though valid. Most of us were long ago convinced, and he’s preaching to the choir. Use that one day to really entertain us.

I dont see why not. I was born during this time and all you need by law is over 25 for congress, 30 for senator, 35 for president

Then as now, some incumbents ran unopposed. If a law student is the only person willing to run against the incumbent, then sure, she can get the nomination. In Slade’s case, she wasn’t expected to have any chance of winning until a scandal erupted on the other side.

Wonder if this is how Sheila Jackson Lee got her start. She’s right out of a comic strip.

It’s amazing what can happen in South Carolina. I guess you’ve seen this, which is all over the news today: http://www.tampabay.com/news/nation/small-sc-town-rallies-for-fired-gay-police-chief/2188387

I don’t recall this Doonesbury strip, either, though I’m sure I saw it. It’s neat. As for Garry’s Sunday strips, I find them entertaining. To each his or her own.

“Wonder if this is how Sheila Jackson Lee got her start. She’s right out of a comic strip.”.She’s a great Congresswoman; head and shoulders over the Representative of the Appalachian Trail.

LWP: too bad you just posted the thing about Fox 2 minutes ago on yesterday’s strip. I doubt that many will read it.

There is no comparison between Sheila Jackson lee and the Appalachian trail guy. Kaffekup was saying there is no comparison.

Hi, mt, thanks for pointing that post out. And in Faux’ Terms of Service, "entertainment’ is a lie, also.

More radical than a law student running for Congress was a black woman running for Congress.

Spoiler alert: (since so many strips in the thread are not being included in this retrospective)

Law school adviser: OK Virginia, I approve your project of running for Congress.

adviser: Hey! Wouldn’t it be funny if you actually won?

Ginny: Tee Hee! Oh, don’t be ridiculous!

A college student ran for mayor of my home town and most unexpectedly won, largely because people were sick of the old guy and knew squat about the challenger. I think he did a good job, though.
