The NRA would never, ever, carry the load on the consequences of their several decades of lobbying. La Pierre least of all, because as a lobbyist, not a gun rights true believer, he wouldn’t want to have to launder more of his money if it got stained with the blood he’s responsible for.

Won’t be long before we look just like a third world country with a unshaven men in the streets firing off AK-47s to celebrate something. Passing a law detailing when it is OK to shoot a cop must be a real morale builder.

What the media so carefully ignores are the two million incidents per year where privately-owned firearms stop/prevent crime or defend law-abiding citizens. I happen to value the sanctity of MY life and those of my family so I possess and carry. Thankfully a family member was armed when a couple of thugs broke into their home in the middle of the night. Fortunately they didn’t want to try the man of the house on for size, staring down the barrel of his Colt .45 Auto. So they saved their lives by laying down on the floor with their hands behind their heads and waited for the police to come and take them away. One had a knife, the other a small pistol. The owner was quite prepared to double-tap them both if they had not complied. He had a wife and a grandchild (me) to protect.

It is amazing how an inanimate object stirs up so much hatred. No rifle pistol or shotgun ever killed without a person pulling the trigger. But I ask you when guns are outlaw what will be outlawed next the knife, the baseball bat, the rock or the hundreds of other object that man uses to kill his fellow man? It is easy to blame the object because as American we do not want to shine a light into that dark place where all the violence comes from the human mind. It is easier to blame the weapon that the person using it.

The rifle has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. It will be used by evil men for evil and by good men for good. Since evil cannot be turned away by media propaganda then it is up to good men to do the job.

For those that say only the law should have guns may I remind you the national average response time for the police is 11 minutes. A lot can happen in eleven minutes.

Our founding father were SUBJECTS to the English crown until they armed themselves and became CITIZENS of the United States.

NRA says 2.5 million successful defenses with legally owned firearms between 2007 and 2011.

DOJ puts it at 338,700 for the same interval.

Who to believe? Government statistics or the lobbying arm of the industry that profits from sales of firearms?

Actually I am an Elizabeth Warren liberal with a gun- keep it in my glove compartment or bedside table. And, if I saw a guy in a restaurant with a semi automatic, I would assume he was robbing the place, which would scare me. Under Florida law, and that of quite a few other states, being scared would give me the right to shoot him. And, I’m probably a better shot than he is- I’ve won a few exhibitions. Eventually, if these kooks keep bringing assault rifles to Burger King, someone is going to kill one of them.

yeah, right….the criminals will all turn their guns in….NOT…question: why do the rich and famous and the politicians get to have ARMED GUARDS but, we regular people cannot carry?….HUH?…oh…because those guards are TRAINED?…well, so are people who have carry permits.

Kevin Robinson: you might want to check some firearm fatal accident statistics, there are THOUSANDS of deaths reported due to lethal discharge of firearms with no trigger finger involved, especially among hunters (Who are idiots. One of our locals killed himself just three weeks after completing the NRA “hunter safety” course!! NEVER lean a rifle or shotgun against a fence when crossing it!)

^Mdavis,it’s really nice to know that the myriad of school shootings so far just this year, is quite acceptable to you.

we should all be satisfied and proud of our school shootings here in the good ole’ us of a.

and if we want to prevent ’em (and who would want that?), we should just arm all the students and all will be well.
