orinoco womble: Alsace has been a part of Germany a number of times since the Holy Roman Empire, German food would be logical. In WW-I, France interned Alsatians, even including Albert Schweitzer, and it is the British term for the German Shepard dog.
What in heck would you do with 16 pounds of cabbage? I guess you could make a big batch of sauerkraut and put it away for the winter, but few Americans ferment their own.
