It amazes me that we are all on twitter and Facebook. By 'we' I mean adults. We're adults, right? But emotionally we're a culture of seven-year-olds. Have you ever had that moment when you're updating your status... and you realize that every status update is just a variation on a single request. And you post it and you just wait it out. All comments are then read as: 'we see you, Marc' 'we love you, Marc' 'we care that you are there, Marc.' Twitter and Facebook are my teachno-parents, sating the child in me. Well… uh… at least it wasn’t Mark Zuckerberg. I don’t even own a Twitter account by the way. As for Facebook on which I do own an account, I don’t do very many status updates.

Facebook and twitter have their purpose. Quick up dates of club and organization info. Also life changes of friends and family . Now it is addiction for some. I found a happier addiction in riding my bicycle.

No facebook or twitter for me. I do have Linked in, but I wouldn’t have gotten into that if I wasn’t looking for work. You do what you gotta do.

Points out the dependency to these things for some folks. They want more than 15 minutes of fame.Stay in the spotlight……be the SHOW.I too have no Twitter or Facebook or Instagram. I do have followers however….I am a cop….I am expected to lead. And if you want to be safe….you better follow.And put that damn phone down.

No social media except LinkedIn, which I got because people asked me to, and, of course, GoComics, which I love.Also love Marc Maron in all his forms, tv show and podcast, and deeply miss his show on Air America. I still laugh about some of his bits.

Jeez. Yes, all the people on that subway are staring at their phones. But did people before the era of smartphones really have that fulfilling subway rides? Did pre-smartphone subway rides offer some sort of spiritual or emotional pleasure that I missed?
Also, way to assume that anything done with smartphones automatically is useless.
