A decades long problem addressed finally? Well, actually I’d bet not, because that guy sitting in the chair has been waiting for Congress to support him, rather than giving VA what they actually need, instead of mandating spending in House budgets written by Republican dominated committees to spend on their supporters, not support for VA, or troops.
26 VA institutions are under investigation. No Vet can come and see a Doctor until the system approves he qualifies for treatment, and until the appointment date arrives. Those records of appointment dates and waiting time were falsified for open records and the real waiting times were on hidden, secret lists. There have been 100 Vets who died due to the wait times, including cancer patients, and that isn’t the final count.-Congressman Andy Harris of Maryland has proposed a bill for Veterans to be given Vouchers to pay for private healthcare treatment. Until the VA system can be reformed or replaced, that is a workable and helpful solution, IMO.Andy Harris is a doctor, and is ex-military so understands the problem of a Failed Bureaucracy.
^We had it, called “fee basis” if folks lived far enough from a VA facility, but Republicans and “W” took ’em away from us. Such a “single payer” system is good, and DOES work, and btw, actually reduces costs, if those costs are monitored and “middle men”, are removed from the process.
