The naked fashion doll reminds me of a doll I had as a little girl. She had all this gorgeous curly hair, and I washed and combed it all the time, which tended to break or pull out the “hairs.” My mother tells me that’s what happened; I really only have clear memory of the toy as a doll named “Curly” who was totally bald.

Reminds me of a line from my ode to spring in Wisconsin that I called "The Age of Asparagus " (later I heard this phrase on a show by Food Network personality Alton Brown, but I wasn’t consciously copying him at the time – maybe it was in the Collective Unconscious):

When the snow stops falling on the house, And robins cast their cheeky stares,Then geese fly honkin’ through the heavens, And sap jump-starts the pears.

Chorus:This is the dawning of the Age of Asparagus, The Age of Asparagus,Asparaguuuus, Asparagus!

Time to let the chickens wander, Now that they won’t freeze their toes off.Uh-oh, looky over yonder! When the snow melts, We see things we need to hose off,Rusty bikes, and ancient Barbies with their clothes off, Asparagus! Asparagus!

    (Chorus)

(Apologies to “The Age of Aquarius”)
