Fred’s pretty anti-Gummint if he’s blaming the System for the malfeasance of a “Private-sector” specialist either hired or working pro-bono at the Naval Hospital – Bethesda. The corneal butcher now works in Singapore ? Wonder if Fred still advocates (as do most Liber-serva-tarians) for “Tort Reform”?
“Obamacare” is just private insurance. The VA actually works a lot more effectively, and a lot cheaper than any private insurance, because it’s a purely socialist, single-payer system. So, if you wanted to move vets to Obamacare, you’d need to come up with a LOT of money. The VA mostly works pretty well — its approval is MUCH higher than private insurance — though it has some major trouble with enrollment. The real problems they’re having is that the GOP blocks increased funding, even though they greatly expanded the number of wounded vets.
Way back in 1978, I got a cavity (while in the army) and they put me on a waiting list for the dentist. TEN MONTHS later when I showed up for my appointment I had eleven more cavities.
Iraq and Afghanistan still have huge untapped oil reserves. Exxon-Mobil, Chevron, Conoco and Shell contribute generously to Congressmen. Then, they tell Washington to send troops there to protect their interests. Washington complies.
Badger your Senators and Reps that you want a sur-tax levied on their profits to restore necessary funding to REALLY support our veterans. I have done this in Massachusetts. Now you try it.
Hmm when I left the Army my medical records, like a huge number of ’Nam vets, were purged before going to St. Louis, like three surgeries, treated for malaria, hearing loss, and other issues. When VA tried to get records to do my C & P examinations, only my shot record and a brief visit to the medic in basic training.
The VA in most cases, is doing their best, but the Pentagon is still today trying their ‘best" to see that vets don’t get properly recognized in the system, so the cost of war doesn’t reflect back on them. BTW folks, VA isn’t part of the Pentagon, if they wanted a bund of junk, and hire REAL idiots, they could just actually be a part of the Pentagon, and get to spend whatever they want.
Maybe some of their fellow Americans will be kind enough to furnish some blood or organs in case they’re needed, instead of Thank you for your service, platitudes?

Idiot doesn’t understand that if you’re on active duty, you use military healthcare, not VA. VA is for vets, which I doubt Rad-ish is..

maybe they should try to administrate rather than having affairs.
