Netanyahu had his turn at the peace table when he was PM. Talks stalled because he refused to stop the forced evictions in the West Bank to make room for new Israeli settlements.

“Remembering the Nakba: Israeli group puts 1948 Palestine back on the map”
" ‘Zochrot’ aims to educate Israeli Jews– through tours and a new phone app – about a history obscured by enmity and denial"
Many years ago I met a few Israelis in Israel that made me think things would eventually work out. They had reminded me of some folks from back home. At times I’ve been optimistic, then pessimistic as the 2nd Intifada started. ‘Zochrot’, like ‘Breaking the Silence’ brings out the optimist in me.
Until both sides recognise what was done to the other, there won’t be peace.
From a link contained within Zochrot’s website, it reprinted an article that had been printed on a South African website: – JWTC – Johannesburg Workshop in Theory & Criticism.
“Apartheid: A Double-Crossing” – Louise Bethlehem.
“Israel/Palestine: Apartheid of a special type?” – Ran Greenstein.
@ Shadow FX & @ Joadtom The above websites, “Breaking The Silence” and “Zochrot” are Israeli run organisations. I doubt you can accuse them of being anti-Semitic.
“When speaking in English I just wish you guys would actually use the correct Afrikaans pronunciation of the word apartheid. It’s not ‘apart-hide’ but ‘aparrr-t-hate’You miss a trick when speaking in English and you do not mention the ‘hate’.”
Apartheid was not just about disenfranchising ethnically non-Europeans, it was pursuing a policy of racial segregation in all spheres of life, actually initiated by the British while they were the colonial masters. This segregationist policy developed later and was fine-tuned by specific legislation post ‘48 (I’m talking about in South Africa, not Palestine) by the Afrikaner dominated National Party (NP). They were the architects of Apartheid, with a capital A. They put forth through propaganda that the races should and would ‘grow naturally’ apart from each other. This would ensure each race would develop along the same level but apart from each other, thus ensuring each races’ cultures would be respected and maintained pure of the others. This was, of course, sheer hypocrisy. Racism was at its root.
Later, in the early ‘80s, a Tri-cameral representation was proposed: giving some representation to the minority “Coloured” (mixed-race) and “Indian” races/communities, along with the ruling minority Whites, but still depriving the majority Blacks of the vote. This was again a nonsense. By claiming to provide ethnically non-Europeans a vote, somehow this was proving they were enfranchising all South Africans. Black South Africans, of course, could vote in their “homelands” (or Bantusans- there were 10 established by the ’70s. Bantusans had, I think, 13% of the total land within SA for 70% of the population but I think this figure is disputed. At any rate, pretty close ratio)I don’t think any country recognised those Bantusans as being independent of SA and of course this ridiculous ruse was disparaged.
However, don’t take it from me, A South African who did grow up in the apartheid era but on the wrong side of the moral fence. I was one of the priviliged. What do I know what it was like to live under the yoke of apartheid. So, allow me to put forth someone who did, is above reproach and internationally admired and respected and whose voice is not tainted like mine is:
‘Desmond Tutu: Israel guilty of apartheid in treatment of Palestinians’
Go ahead and accuse him, too, of being an anti-Semite.
“It is like being surprised if Patton had become a politician…. I believe he as honest and truthful. He makes no excuse for defending his people and doing what he sees as smart and good.”Forcing people from their homes to make way for others is not what I call good or smart. If you annex territory during a war and force the inhabitants from their homes to make room for new settlements, you’d be pretty #$%^^& stupid to not expect those inhabitants to rise up against you. Israel is partly to blame for the attacks against it. Netanyahu had his chance for peace, but he didn’t want it.
I just discovered that there was indeed one country that …hmm, well, I hesitate to call it “recognised” at least a couple of the South African Bantusans. Of the ten I mentioned above, 4 were supposed to independent (TBVC: Transkei, Bophuthatswana , Venda & Ciskei), the other 6 were “autonomous”. At any rate, no country internationally recognised any of these states. So…how is it that the Ciskei & Bophuthatswana homelands managed to open trade offices in…none other than Tel Aviv…? And their presidents visited Israel in ‘83. Ciskei even managed to get its armed forces supplied and trained by…Israel. :-| Gosh, imagine that, Israel co-operating with the apartheid state. :-|One also shouldn’t mention the co-operation between the 2 countries over their nuclear programmes. :-|
Back to the cartoon:
It is evident there is a massive state of denial. And looking at some posts above, a state of outrage if one dares point this out.Excellent cartoon.
the “policy” of Israel is to survive all the enemies in the Arab states surrounding Israel and the enemies inside the UN mandated land of “Palestine” that offered Arabs an independent state in 1947.-Arabs began serial wars to eliminate Jews in 1948 on Israel’s Independence Day and are sworn to continue until there are no more Jews on that continent.

It’s not anti-Semitic to disagree with the policy of the government of Israel. It’s not anti-Palestinian to disagree with the policy of Hamas.

An accurate ’toon. BTW: Arab and Jew are both Semites, so if “anti-Semite”, you have to hate them both, actually.

Priceless: When will Israel stop the paranoia and negotiate?Their right wing is worse than the tea party!
