It is either beat on Benghazi for another year and a half or vote another 50 times to revoke the ACA. The conservatives don’t have any real accomplishments after stonewalling everything in Congress for the last half a dozen years.
And make sure your corporate media never mentions the request for better security there was blocked by a party-line vote in the House of Representatives months before the attack.
It’s interesting to observe that many posters view Ronald Reagan as a saint, and believe that Benghazi would not have happened if we had a president like him. I’d like to ask them what they thought about 273 Marines being killed in Lebanon on his watch. I don’t remember anyone demanding impeachment or resignation at that time.
Benghazi was preventable; many people did not do their jobs. Same can be said for the Marines in Lebanon, and the multiple examples provided above by Masterskrain. This points to a systemic problem involving foreign policy, foreign aid, and international security. Also with the fact that almost no one in government seems to be held accountable for anything.
The important thing is to learn a lesson, improve our approach, and ensure nothing like this happens again.
Or we could just spit spitballs from the back of the room.
dear i play the lebanon happened and was over // no way to save them [note reagan took resposibility] /// benghazi went on for hours and no attempt was made to save them because it might cut bho lead in the poles
“What difference does it make?” Bush and company lied, and covered up known documents relative to the multiple sources of facts that Saddam had no viable chemical or nuclear program, due to nearly 20 years of bombings and inspections after the first Gulf War, but only 5,000+ American troops, and some 300,000 innocent bystanders died. How can anyone equate those two embassy personnel, and two mercenaries hired from a private security firm, not be FAR MORE IMPORTANT in discussing “reality”?
The Republicans, including Lindsey (gayest blade in the Congressional closet?) don’t realize their Benghazi “one trick pony”, has been in a can of Alpo for a long time.
Mike what do you need for a scandal. Four men are dead and neither the State Department nor the White House have been forthcoming with any explanation as to why they stuck them in left field in what was known hostile territory without adequate security. Just because politicians have always stonewalled explaining their dereliction in office is no excuse for continuing the practice.
The mercs killed on the CIA outpost roof (they were NOT SEALS at the time, but contractors) WERE sent from Tripoli to boost security, and were delayed at the Benghazi airport by Libyan officials. When the bribe money showed up, they went to the outpost. There was no air support by SPECTRE or other aircraft within the critical time frame.
Rarely, if ever btw, mentioned is the fact that 34 employees in the outpost WERE RESCUED and evacuated.
The facts btw also include the fact that there WERE demonstrations outside the actual U.S. Embassy in Tripoli, and the decision NOT to remove the Marines, in violation of our agreements with Libya, and sending them to Benghazi, was the right one.
Folks in the public totally ignorant of how State Dept has operated for decades, or that putting out a “questionably truthful” story is often a way to protect security at other locations, is one thing, but for Graham and Issa to come up with this is despicable, and should lead to their censure and removal from office, for breaching security measures, risking lives, and yes, essentially committing several elements of treason.
What a load of liberal crap. I guess it is perfectly OK with you that four Americans were killed when they could have gotten support. But really "what difference does it make,: said the person you are all going to vote for in 2016.
Reagan also didn’t ever admit that both the State Dept. AND the Marine command told him directly to move the Marines out of that barracks in Beirut, days before the attack as it wasn’t secure, and REAGAN told them he didn’t want them moved. Blam!
Reagan’s political appointee also ignored the direct advice of every single engineer at NASA and the contractors to NOT launch the Challenger as the temperature was too low, but the appointee overruled them and ordered the launch, because Reagan wanted to see his teacher in space. BLAM!
Sometimes the biggest screwups, like invading Iraq again, ARE the fault of the President, other times, like Iraq, it’s a result of a President who’s an idiot, with a corrupt bunch of lying brown noses and idiot advisors, he listens to. Blam!
