Maybe the current Pope should just get it over with and Cannonize himself. That would save a lot of time.

I don’t know if that’s how it works. Reading about saints, it’s like “This saint was martyred by being roasted on a gridiron, so now he’s the patron saint of football.” Or “This saint was strangled with his own hair, so now he’s the patron saint of hairdressers.” The logic is a bit tenuous.

If they were straightforward about it, though, he could be the patron saint of covering it all up.

When the Catholic Church sells all its real estate, art, jewelry, etc, and use it to help the downtrodden, then I will pay attention to it.

I’ve seen several, ranging from a renaissance fair in the 80s before they hit it big to most recently a couple of months ago in Boston. Awesome performers. A little weird on the politics (they’re Objectivists), but talented guys who work hard to make it great.

Sure, Archimedes, I’m willing to try again. Here is a statement from the most well known Catholic college in the US. Note that tuition is over $44,000.00, with room and board at over $12,000.00. Clearly the Church is not paying for those services.

With respect to hospitals and medical services, the Church does better, but it is not a fount of altruism. If a patient can pay, they pay. If not, for the most part, the hospitals take Medicaid and Medicare at a slightly higher rate than non-Catholic hospitals. So again, some charity, but also they seek reimbursement from the Feds. This is better, but it is still not anywhere near spending 171 Billion to help the needy.

I do not fault the Church members, or the priests, monks, and nuns who take their Benedictine vow, but rather, the Vatican, and the extended governmental body of the church that owns 177 million acres of land, investments in banking, and other industries, etc.
