So, what’s the Progressive left’s alternative? Public financing of campaigns? What could possibly be more onerous than people having to pay money to politicians and causes they disagree with or despise?.How about limiting contributions? That just means people use creative accounting to get around them..It is better to let contributions be free but totally public and open to inspection. That way we know who is buying who…
You all know after 35 years of right-wing union-busting, they can’t hold a candle to a single Koch brother. Neither can a single George Soros compare to dozens of republican billionaires.
We are the 99%—- that means we have the votes to elect people who will actually represent middle class workers and provide a safety net for those who are trying to get into the middle class. We all need to know who is supporting the candidates. That is who they will be working for. They have no choice if they want to stay in office. You have to do the bidding of whoever who is paying your way, just the same as we all do in our jobs. So, before going to vote, look it up on the internet. Open Secrets is a good site, but there are plenty. If the candidate is getting their money from small donors or from unions, they are going to be working for middle class working people. If their donations are from corporationsor from 1%ers, don’t figure they are going to go against them and do anything for the middle class. It would be political suicide.

If the voters didn’t choose their candidates the way they choose their toothpaste the money wouldn’t make that much difference.

Lalo, I can agree with you on this one. Just make sure the complaint covers both ends of the political spectrum.

All the conservatives here assume that labor unions give more money than billionaire conservatives. Care to do a reality check on that one?
