Specter didn’t leave the GOP, the GPO left Specter. A moderate like Specter could no longer stomach what the GOP has become—(plus he wanted to keep his Senate seat without the otherwise obligitary run against a really conservative Republican because if he lost a Democrat would win the seat anyway).

etocme, very odd you’d say that given Specter’s voting record…

Nice, succinct characterization of the nature of the GOP today.

No, let’s have a “pity party” and give him a “bailout.”

Arlen was always a Democrat! He knew he wasn’t going to make it in the primaries so he bailed! Good Ridden!

HOWGOZIT says: And what was your take when Liebermann left the Demos BCS? I didn’t like the Dems turning against Lieberman either, but it takes a special kind of gall to run as a party’s vice presidential candidate and 8 years later trash that same party and its candidate. Lieberman’s speech to the GOP convention should go down in history as the epitome of losing your integrity while pandering.

Believe, your comment on Lieberman addressing the Republican Party is exactly so.
