Burl wouldn’t know what homemade even tasted like. When has he ever had anything that didn’t come from a box?Lo-Cal is a dirty word in the Penny household, if their dinner doesn’t contain a weeks worth of fat and salt they think it is tasteless! Why they haven’t developed diabetes or a heart condition or liver disease is beyond me.

Mikie…. I think when counting “servings” you have to distinguish between “package directions” type servings, and Penny platefuls.

Burl took almost a quarter of the whole lasagna for his first serving (had to make sure he got his share.) Subsequent servings are small bits as they divvy up whatever’s left….with one or another always whining, “Hey, leave me more….I didn’t take as much as everybody else the first time.”

As for Marlene…. she prepared everything!I mean, presumably she set the table, and had previously washed the dishes. People don’t realise how much preparation happens long before the food.

Then, she didn’t just pull the box out of the freezer, throw it on the table, and say, “Hey, go get a knife and cut this sucker open.”

No!. She took the lasagne pan OUT of the box, carefully removed the film, and patiently microwaved it…. possibly for as long as15 minutes!

Then she called Joy to get her recipe for heating those Pepperidge Farm rolls…. They don’t just come out of the bag warm, you know.

And it’s all real food. None of it is that toy stuff like Timmy had when he was three…. and none of it is just pictures cut out of magazines.I mean, really!Who would serve fake food?

I wonder what they would use if they made their own: Hamburger Helper, processed cheese, and several packets of ketchup?

I think hamburger helper is even beyond them to make, you have to open the box then cook the meat, add the noodles ,sauce, and sometimes seasonings. Yup that’s too much for Joy to do, She doesn’t get past open box without asking Verl the rest.

Yes Burl it took 1/4 of a pan to figure it tasted funny, you just stuffed yourself and was waiting for the stomach to digest the last bite so you could finish and have room for dessert. Jello !! There is ALWAYS room for Jello you know…

That Burl actually didn’t finish a second helping of anything is obviously some creepy urban legend: that claim would negate all the known and proven data re: his thirds, fourths, etc. etc. that are the stuff of fact, not myth. Snark! SNARK!!

Yes, Marlene went to the extra trouble of hiding the packaging that the “food” came in and dirtying her own pans, so that it appears to have been home cooked. Not that it would ever occur to her to add any fresh ingredients.

Now that we know the contents of the fast foods and that even their rolls contain unhealthy substances, I’m increasingly making more foods from scratch.
