Well THERE’S gratitude for you! How rude! On another note, I think it’s really funny seeing the new mutants having a lovers’ tiff! Makes them seem human (how ironic).

Jim: “Among the many things I’ve forgotten since becoming a mutant, one is that I forgot to tell you I rewired this zero gun. Now, you can be a live, angry cat, or you can be a silent, angry pile of dust, either way, you’re not leaving me alone in this Transporter with Ms. Lizardbreath over there.”

Yes, not only does a zero gun not work when fired by a mutant, it also contains a sentient brain. Yes, Jim’s gun may now be of a totally opposed political persuasion.

A Topsider Bonnie and Clyde. How about that….their first fight….and first hostages.(Being a Texas Trooper I don’t mean to romanticize the real Bonnie and Clyde. They brutally killed two of my own. Bonnie blew ones face off with a 12ga reportedly laughing the whole time)

A zero gun transmitted to TopSiderHQ and betrayed Al and Gustine. I am a little late to the opinion this was all a ruse to get moose and squirrel, I mean Holly and Wally.Maybe Jim and Sarah’s colony was collapsing from some virulent disease, and they needed not only the cute mutation secret, but basic survival skills. Or maybe Jim and Sarah need sex ed lessons, and the zero guns are just voyeurs.Remember to support your artist and vote. Thanks, JusSayin

The interesting question is whether this zero gun would have worked for Jim. My understanding is that Jim and Sarah had planned their escape very carefully and were not carrying a zero gun because of concern that it would have exposed their location. It is also very likely that Jim has learned enough about zero guns that he modified the ones that he (and probably Sarah) are using. That said, his move is very unwise. The new mutants will need Wally and Holly’s help and that help will be more useful if it is not coerced out of people being treated like prisoners.

I’d say there’s a real good chance the gun will work, as in “probably”. Why?1. “Clive” the transporter. Not just a designation, Clive has a real name, a personality, and knows where it comes from. It also was complicit in the murder of other topsiders as well as escaping from them. Plus, Clive has not locked them out of the vehicle even though they are now all mutants.2. Sarah and Jim’s suits – some folks will have noticed when first meeting them that their suits had been “altered” – head antennas missing, etc., suggesting Sarah and/or Jim know how to modify them – or at least sabotage them. Might also suggest they were banished, but then why would Clive listen to them?3. Jim’s Zero gun – was used by Jim to kill other topsiders. While not definitive evidence (we’ve never seen topsiders kill other topsiders before), it suggests modification.

didn’t see This coming! wow. got no ideas about this, however,

lit’s obviousl that Jim made very embarrassed when she became naked. He either thought it was strange or if they “did it” he was very pleased and that was what the yelling was about and she knew that H&W could hear him.

I just noticed that the gun is not pointing at Wally, it’s aimed at Holly! Wally gets real angry if anyone tries to mess with Holly.

about the gun. Clive has talked to Jim even after he mutated. So if Clive recognizes Jim, then the gun either can’t see them or since Clive knew Jim the gun would know him too.

I didn’t catch the significance of the emergency override code name until now. I have always assumed that PTs have a fair amount of autonomy, think about Petey’s willingness to travel with a Typhoid Mary. It could be that the static that Clive has been giving Jim and Sarah was to give the couple some street cred, they would be less than believable if the first PT they came across just said “lets go”. The question is is “Janus” a clue or a red herring?

Wally’s next logical question (ignoring the possibility that the Topsider zero-gun won’t work for Jim now he’s mutated):

    “Why not?”

I suspect that Jim didn’t have a plan ( or not anymore with the town droned) after getting mutated and doesn’t have a clue as to what to do next. I’m further wondering if they are young (with all the stupid that can get in the way) and are going about everything all wrong. Just hoping it is as simple as that and not something more nefarious. An aside about Jim’s “oh my!!!!!!” might be due to some zoomorphic details of his new anatomy that might give any man pause. (I ’d be a bit weirded out by the change in “hardware” myself) . Further, if they were young, body image issues are going to be a bigger deal.

Don’t think the gun is pointed at Holly. In panel 3 Holly and Wally are behind Jim’s chair. In 4 Wally has moved forward to talk directly to Jim. Jim is just showin the gun to reinforce his threat.

The gun may be transmitting everything back to TopSider HQ. Wally, and maybe Holly, may have a functional freeplay raygun. They may need them quite soon.

The zerogun could definitely refuse to work for Rocky, like everything else. Clive could now definitely have four mutant prisoners, two of which definitely know the secret of cute mutation, and NOW have demonstrated a new a powerful defensive cloaking device. Yes, the TopSiders would definitely want this information, I wonder if the secret of cute mutation got back to TopSiders, if parents would have any trouble making their children go to sleep? Sure, some boys may want to be giant mutant bugs, but might reconsider if they knew mommy had a zero gun, and in any case, they wouldn’t be alive very long.JusPonderin
