I am of descent from three grandparents whose nations border Russia, and one of them is Ukraine. All of them fled with their parents the despotism and cruelty of Russia around 1900. They would have likely died on their land, exiled from their land, or if drafted into the Russian army – but died. .They were dirt poor when they came here, dirt poor through the Depression, and finally their children (my parents, aunts, and uncles) made decent lives for themselves in the U.S. .Putin is a megalomaniac as was Stalin. Ukraine was always coveted by Russia and has experienced famines and purges as a result of Russia’s influence. It would be astonishing if the modern world allowed the Russians to continue with this archaic type of invasion. Russia is again becoming an Evil Empire..Syria, the Olympics, and then … Ukraine? Putin is becoming a national leader in style of Hitler and Stalin.
I think it will split into Ukraine and Crimea, much the way Moldova broke away from Romania (which has had almost as much trouble with its borders as Poland).
Not that the myth-makers care, but Reagan did not end the cold war, he increased it, tripled the National Debt, and illegally sent funds to the terrorist bands.
Also he didn’t “Tear Down That Wall!” The people behind that wall did themselves.
Reality: we threaten Putin because they’re concerned about the location of their largest naval seaport on the Black Sea, and it’s THEIR neighborhood.
We invaded Afghanistan, Iraq, Grenada, Panama, and took part in “regime change” in Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Nicaragua, et al, and we’re just “good guys”??

A perfect political cartoon. As Carol Anne in “Poltergeist” whimpered, “No more!”

I don’t think Putin cares about Yanukovych; he will use him or toss him, depending. Sort of the way the US used Diem and then threw him away.

I think we have here a good example of material implication. “If Dr. C is banned from gocomics, then Russia will invade Ukraine.”
