.. 20-25 years.. oh come on, Rena looks over 60 with the hair and glasses, are they working to 75? She should be able to say 25 months.. but yeah, retirement.. nice concept.

Also, being retired isn’t all that it is cracked up to be, my wife and I have been called for jury duty twice in two years in a county with a population of over two hundred thousand. It should have been at least five years plus I know some people in the same county who have never been called.

Enjoy the life you have now. As the country song says " You’re gonna miss this. You’re gonna want this back…".

It’s not like you are working in the mines ladies. Do you really want to skip ahead 20 years?

I was about 67 when I was last laid off; very few consulting firms here and none were for me. My last place in Illinois would still take me if I moved back (I visited when I was there in 2013).

I moved for the weather in 1998 and love Phoenix and my house, so I just have to do the best I can on SSA and my various IRAs. and I’ve had time to do some paintings for my walls.

How sweetly naive, thinking that they’ll be able to retire some day… rather than being carried out of their cubicles in body bags

“Where ever you go, there you are.” Tibetan quote…I put it differently: "If you’re not where you’re at, you’re no place.

I agree with others that they should be happy to have a job, and not one digging ditches. Many would be happy to have that these days. The days are long, but having no money is worse.

If you are waiting for retirement to travel, make sure to book those trips asap. All it takes is one fall to bind you to your area. My dad waited to take my mom ti Ireland – she got cancer and ‘forget about it’ . Other people have been tight all their lives – saving for retirement. When they get there, they are scared to spend a dollar. It might be more for the heirs, but they should have spent some of the money on themselves.

I’m glad I didn’t wait to take my overseas vacation. I had to penny-pinch for about a year, but I’ll remember it for the rest of my life. I have some cousins who have even taken multiple trips to Europe and they’re still in their 20s!

What I hate most about a ‘real’ job is that you have to orient your entire life around it, rather than the other way around.
