I regret what is about to happen to the women and girls and those who cooperated and supported Americans in Afghanistan. In a perfect world, the world would be involved. The USA cannot even take care of its own infrastructure, neither can it properly care of its children and disenfranchised. We cannot continue to invest in a nation whose own leaders are stealing from the people. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for the Taliban to kill him. It will be equally interesting to see how long it takes for the Taliban to get settled in Afghanistan and immediately turn around to attack Pakistan who has been protecting so many of them for so long.Welcome those who served there with open arms and write to your legislators demanding jobs, medical support, and protection of these brave men and women who represented us abroad while we shopped, watched sports, and went on with lives with our families… something they weren’t able to do while serving.Respectfully,C.

I still (tongue slightly in cheek) think the solution would be empty our prisons and deposit the inmates in Afghanistan….

    >>…the Second British Afghan War installed a king who started a line that kept Afghanistan in fairly decent shape until the Soviet invasion<<

That’s not the take I get on reading “The Afghan Wars 1839-42 and 1878-80 by Archibald Forbes” (available at Project Gutenberg for free). It was just one tinpot dictatorlet after another.

Not at all. I consider my idea a “jobs” program. Instead of murderous, vicious gangsters and assorted other career criminals sitting in prison on our dime we put them to work eradicating terrorist scum just like them..They have three big advantages in our favor over the locals:.They are greedy and will see an opportunity to make money once there..They speak English so it will be easier in the long run to deal with them..They know about indoor plumbing and will want it.

If it does not benefit Enoki, it is for naught.

Karzai is going to end up to parts unknown, to live off the money he has stashed there, in luxury. We never should have invaded Afghanistan, and we NEVER should have let Karzai rule. Charlie Wilson did know who we should have backed, but we ended up stabbing them all in the back.
