    SOME DETECTIVE WORK

    In the first panel, the laptop reads “Laptop 9000”. At the last panel, he’s reading a book entitled “K is for Kubrick”. Sort of a nod to the1968 (and often lampooned) movie2001: A Space Odyssey, directed by the late Stanley Kubrick..

    Re: HAL, IBM, Clarke & KubrickI’m not sure if I’m misunderstanding you or you misunderstood Skywatcher68, but it was Clarke and Kubrick who didn’t want the name HAL to be taken as a slam against IBM. Here’s a letter from Kubrick about HAL and IBM.
