For the Left the law is like Humpty Dumpty put in in Lewis Carol’s story: The law means exactly what I want it to mean.

“I know of the “Letter of the law”. I also know that “Spirit of the law” is just another liberal excuse to bypass the law.”

With all due respect, I believe that you are viewing this incorrectly. Laws are made with intent (spirit). Lawyers find ways to use the letter of the law to undermine the intent.

“Okay, the law says you can’t dump anything bad in the water supply. But Sulfuric Acid is totally natural. So is Arsenic. And the law doesn’t specifically mention either one of them. So my client is innocent, your Honor.”

THIS is why we have so many ridiculous regulations: because people have to try to think of every possible idiotic eventuality.

Put it another way: all laws, including the ten commandments, are based on one consideration: don’t do to others what you wouldn’t want them to do to you. Even religion had to increase that one to ten. And now let’s look at how many local, state, and federal laws have been passed to try to enforce that one statement.

This has nothing to do with Conservative vs. Liberal. It has everything to do with greed and a desire to “get around the rules”. We do not have a justice system; we have a legal system. One more reason to despise the legal profession.

And you point is? Jury instructions are given because not everyone has common sense.
