Both, I think. I know my sense of humor isn’t the same now as it was forty (jeez, FORTY) years ago. I have some early episodes on DVD. They’re amusing, but not as subversively hilarious as they were back then. And those of us sufficiently, ahem, experienced to clearly remember those early days are no longer the target demographic of the folks that put on the show. Hell, I’m not even awake at ten thirty on a Saturday night. Why would they write jokes for me?

There WERE “side splitting comedies all over the tube” – not anymore. I miss In Living Color and Mad TV (and the old SNL – I’m pretty much in the same league as DoctorDan,there).
