A “horse power” is defined at least 5 different ways, including “mechanical”, “boiler”, “electrical”, etc. Check the current output levels (mechanical horsepower) of modern formula one racing power plants. 200 horsepower for a 4-cylinder engine is no problem whatsoever.

I think the car company’s horsepower estimates are a bit, uh, enthusiastic. Sorta like Sears’ 6.5 horsepower shop vac. You’d need a 50 amp circuit to run it on 115 volts!

That car has been one of the longest non – running jokes I’ve seen. .If estimated horsepower is anything like estimated mpg, I would take it with a grain of salt.

I knew a couple of people who’d installed a loudspeaker in their car. Instead of “Beep Beep” or whatever, they’d get on the horn and shout “Get out of my way, A**hole!”In the few times I saw it in action, it proved to be rather effective.

“to ethanol reducing the mileage by 30% to 40%) "

Did you make up this statistic? EPA says 3-5% reduction for E10. Road & Track says some have 6-10% reduction (these are the people who complain). Ethanol has 2/3 energy efficiency of gas, so E10 would reduce total efficiency by about 6-7%, which corresponds to R&T.
