Officer, I was just minding my own business, cat napping, when this gang of hoodlums came, threw me out on the parking lot and stole momma’s car! I have a description!
Even if you don’t rush, if you don’t like to rush, it’s a good way to shop casually…Take your time…No tripping over, or dodging other shoppers. It’s very Zen.
WalMart is across the street from my housing development. I limit myself to one visit a week and I certainly spend an hour. My list is arranged by areas, so I don’t have to repeat (unless I get distracted). I realize WM has its problems, but it has also begun stocking some stuff in its grocery area that is local, much that is organic, and many specialty brands—-plus it buys only hormone-free beef.
Our grocery store, Fred Meyer’s has always contained a department store with clothes and hardware, towels and kitchen supplies. When it was bought by Kroger (what store wasn’t) we all demanded they leave the department store aspect alone, and they did. You can buy milk , bread, underwear, shoes, paint, dishes, a couch, nails etc. Soooo an hour might not be enough!
Please check out Girth, its so funny and the artwork is wonderful. Its on Sherpa and deserves to be read! Its about an overweight bull dog who knows he isn’t top dog, but would like to be.
We have two Fred Meyer’s, one Albertson’s a Walmart and a WinCo, but I never shop for groceries in any of them. I go to Haggen which used to be locally owned, but they still carry food from local farms and ranches, plus I shop at our two Food Coops and also Trader Joe’s. Aside from TJ, we try to buy from local, organic farms. We have, over the years been changing our buying habits, buying from locally owned hardware, grocery, appliance, etcetera, stores.
ANNETTE, 911 dials emergency services in Canada too, but we usually say 9-1-1 to refer to it, and 9-11 to refer to Sept. 11th when the World Trade Towers were hit.
I know, Shika. I just hate shopping – even for food. But I do spend more time shopping for music and movies and art, because that’s more about collecting rather than shopping for the basic needs – which I reaaly can’t stand.
