So true, but there are many in America still want to be the big dog and to enforce dominance with the military. You hear it when Obama uses diplomacy rather than bombs – “Our friends no longer respect us and our enemies no longer fear us.” They fail to see that one drone strike kills one or two and twenty more step up to take their place.
During the 1980s our Afghan policy did not differentiate between the radicals like Hekmatyr and those associated with the Northern Alliance like Masoud. The goal was to to defeat the Soviets with little regard for who would run the country after the Russians left. Had we lent our support to the moderates – those who were Western-leaning like Masoud, the outcome would have been different. Instead we left a leadership vacuum that was filled by the Taliban.
As someone who has actually “worked” in Afghanistan and holds an advanced degree in international affairs – you are full of it. We did not invade Iraq because of the assassination attempt on Bush, Sr. There were – and still are – geopolitical issues that you little understand tool bag

Brought to you by the incompetence of Rumsfeld, Cheney, “W”, and their worthless crew.
