What’s wrong with handing out punishment that fits the crime? It should be swift and impressionable.

Not sure why it is no longer used. On the other hand, how about killing the killer with the same method the killer used to kill their victim?

As long as most wrongful convictions are minorities (and to date, most are), I’m sure conservatives are just fine with killing them anyway. That’s the pattern in Texas, and no conservative there has raised a single finger.

I’m opposed to the death penalty, for several reasons, but if we’re going to keep it, hanging, decapitation, gas chambers, and firing squads are all faster and more “humane”, actually, than lethal injection. The thought of “just going to sleep” is what appeals to folks.

I do believe that if we keep it for multiple homicides, with NO QUESTION as to guilt, then if they use a gun: firing squad, an edged weapon: Guillotine; beating to death: stone them to death, strangulation: they hang, explosive device: detonate one pound of C-4 in their rectum. Eye for an eye may be messier, but profoundly more fitting.

What was so humane about the deaths of the victims of those who were executed for them?

Warbucks; just a note, when I told folks I was against the death penalty for simple rape, they said your bit, “what if it was your wife or daughter?” I pointed out that due to "life experiences I’ve had, I would not have them killed, I’d ask for two hours alone with them, and they’d live, but pray every day of the rest of their lives, praying to die. There ARE punishments FAR WORSE than the death penalty, and in fact, more fitting to some of those crimes.

I agree. Lethal injection is not very humane. I seriously think that the guillotine is 100x more humane (it’s over in a fraction of a second!), plus it will deter more criminals.

Jesus was a victim of capital punishment.“Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?”Matthew 7: 1-3 (King James version)And personally, I don’t think it shows our moral superiority when we use the same methods as a brutal killer on a brutal killer. If we want to believe we are better than that, we need to be better than that.

A friend shared a thought with me, I share it here.“Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement.”Respectfully,C.

I liked your quip about the “guillotine being a cut above all other methods.” but I fear most here missed your joke and took you seriously. :-/

also said: “Boy, some of these comments have really brought out the best in humankind.”

Reasonable Troll quoted: “Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement”

And most of those clamouring for capital punishment want the government to do it for them. I thought these folks hated the government and wanted it out of their lives…?…but ok for it to be in with regards death and when it comes to icky things like vengeful killing.

I must’ve missed Breen’s comic addressing the raping and burning of the victim, resulting in the death of both she and her baby. Far more “humane”, right?

I agree. I’m against the death penalty, too easy to convict innocent people. Maybe the could be put to work as houseboys or maids in the homes of the 1% that can’t find good slaves, oops, I means good minimum wage Americans.
