In their heat of hearts, whether liberal or conservative – the cartoonists and comedy writers are all hoping Christie gets elected president…

There are always missed opportunities for someone. Democracy, if only in place at election time, is messy and unpredictable. It’s just about the only hold we have on our governments.. It’s interesting to think that in some alternate Republican universe, Romney was elected, and I wonder how his presidency is making out? In another alternate, McCain was elected. In another, Palin is in her first term. How are things different there?.Robert Heinlein wrote in one of his future history novels that a religious dictatorship would be elected in 2012. It seemed silly when I first read it years ago, but it really could have happened. Could still happen..Disjointed speculations, I know. Too much reading H.L. Mencken. U.S. politics haven’t changed much since his time, really.

Christie has the same chance of making it through the Republican primaries as Daffy Duck has of ascending to the throne as the next Queen of England.

Bet he won’t be as much fun for the caricaturists as Nichtssohn, with his shifty eyes, ski-jump nose and perpetualfive-o’clock shadow, Or You-Know-Who, with the cowlickand the ridiculous nustache.

I like Christie. I wouldn’t necessarily vote for him (if I could), but considering what else the GOP has been running with lately, this guy actually looks sane.

Sharuniboy, now I remember why we missed you do much! Glad you’re back.And if you go back to catch up, you’re in luck in that GoComics finally got tough on the trolls.There are still people who disagree but at least they’re not nuts.
