Holly wouldn’t be so interested in going if it was only food shopping.

Mom needs to budget and girls can go for less. We have to sever budget.

After my first husband died, I would cash my paycheck (this was before auto-deposit) and the two girls and I would sit at the table and make piles for rent, gasoline ($10 every two weeks!), utilities, etc. What was left was for food and other “non-essentials”. It might not have been everybody’s way of doing things, but it worked for us, and I never got “gimme, gimme”. The best cherished birthday gift I ever received was when the girls saved their money and bought me a pair of $1 tennis shoes.

Alix gets it but she is the smarter of the two and not (I repeat)infected with the ‘ME’ disease, yet. Holly must me extremely dense, as I a ‘dumb’(in some people’s mind) man got it my first time through although there are some who would have to read it, at least, three times to get ‘the drift’ !

Now if we can get the government to figure it out.

Seems to me the time to have been thinking about Money and Bills was BEFORE the bills were twice as big as the money.

Holly isn’t dumb. She’s portraying the stereotypical teenager. If Val’s kids were perfect – there wouldn’t be much of a comic, would there?

fake hair color (and the extras, like enhancement and large amounts of makeup) do show a lack of intelligence, or at the least, a focus other than yours.
