To whom it may concern……some have posted recently that they are unhappy with the direction that GG has taken this strip, away from the one-liner style of old and into a more sentimental and contemporary event style…..I, for one, couldn’t be happier. The old Bushmiller style was so lame and boring, I almost didn’t check this out and would have missed what a wonderful new comic it has become, yet still faithful to the old artwork (with some obvious updates.)And no, I am not just looking to see a caricatured female. I appreciate the tenderness that is often portrayed. If it wasn’t for Guy’s influence on this historic strip, it wouldn’t be on my radar.

Despite all the mischief she gets into, Nancy is a good kid.

Bushmiller’s style was very influential to present day comic artists. There are several books on that subject. The strip wouldn’t be around today without the present day fans.

It says on the side that it is written by Guy and Brad. But on the strip it self only says Guy?/

I can go either way on the style. As I have no choice now I think I will follow Guy’s style. LOL

I respect Bushmiller’s Nancy as a historical landmark and for its artistic influence on many people, but in general I’ve just always found the gag-a-day format rather dry. Bushmiller wasn’t always the gag-a-day king, though. He evolved into that. I spent a fun hour or so skimming a Nancy hardcover book of circa 1943 strips that’s been published recently, and those still had continuities. That was fun stuff.

The new (as of the past couple of years) Nancy is probably the most emphatic instance of a new creator putting their own personal stamp on an old strip. This is Gilchrist’s Nancy now, not just “Nancy” done by Gilchrist. It’s been an interesting thing to see happen.

I fail to see the issue with Fritzi’s figure or the strip. Guy is reflecting her in the style he wants and there are plenty of women out in the real world with real natural figures like hers. I am loving the family tone interaction between Phil, Fritzi, Nancy and Sluggo. And his tributes and in memory strip have been awesome.
