A little too much to read right now, or I’ll be late for church. I’ll read it this afternoon, but it looks good.

Cute little story, and worth reading. I wonder if the original newspaper audiences took the time to read it.

This strip is wonderful. I agree with a couple of comments that is a long piece but (thanks digital imaging) it is really worth it. First this strip shows the idea of tie-ins and franchises have been around for awhile with Dorothy of Oz and Co. discussing Santa Claus. And let’s face it, Santa is older than Coke ads and Rockwell. Isn’t the only reason people get down on Xmas a sort of knee-jerk religious moral high horse about crass capitalism? I remember hearing a story of this 10 year-old kid in Winnipeg who was pretend locked up by police because he claimed Santa was communist because by distributing free gifts he subverts retail capitalism. Anyways, Santa is kind of a shadowy figure even as St. Nick. He reminds me of a Chinese deity. The Stove God (Zao Shen) for one. Of course all that hair and beard, that’s from the North. I think Santa’s maybe the only remaining God in post-Xtian culture.

I see you have an edition of Nemo for sale, but it it possible to get single sheets? This strip is a keeper.
