Many years ago, I sent a box of bandy-filled chocolates to my family. They stuck them under the tree, and the dog got into them. According to my folks, that was one incredibly sick dog and one messy living room.
My chihuahua ate a bag of Nestles semisweet morsels and vomited 12 times, what a mess and I bet he would do it again if I ever left that bag out again and I won’t.
A friend of ours has a dog (fortunately a fairly good sized one) who ate an entire bag of milk chocolate kisses, foil and all. He said it was the easiest yard detail he ever had. Wait until dark, take a plastic bag and a flashlight and look for the sparkles. The vet did say the outcome might not have been so funny if it had been dark chocolate.
This is a myth. Our dogs love chocolate. We have a lot of dogs (farm) and none have ever gotten sick from eating chocolate. The whole chicken bones and pork bones thing is a myth too. Our dogs love both: raw, baked or boiled. Too many myths from simple anecdotal cases.
