The “bluenoses” come in both pollitical parties, and among Libertarians (which does seem odd?), but it boils down to personal freedoms that factions from all “political” persuasions, turning to their “relligious” tenets for “guidance”.
On the surface this seems like administration run amok. But not necessarily. The school is saying there is more to the story, but are not saying what, presumably to protect the children. I wondered why the mother said that the six-year old girl was his girlfriend. Well, six-year old boys do not own girlfriends. Call them classmates if you like. Some six-year olds can be pretty precocious. I wonder if something else was going on? Maybe he needed a wake up call.
Turns out the boy was repeatedly kissing the girl since November, on the hand & cheek at various times. He was given in-school suspension, but kept pestering the girl, which led to the 2 day suspension. The boy’s mother was ok with the suspension, but took exception to the behavior being labelled sexual harassment.http://www.canoncitydailyrecord.com/news/canoncity-local-news/ci_24702103/mother-girl-involved-kissing-discipline-speaks-outhttp://www.canoncitydailyrecord.com/news/canoncity-local-news/ci_24697729/lincoln-school-science-technology-student-suspended-after-kissing
Hmm, my first “girlfriend” was also at age 6. She was born in a concentration camp, in Idaho! Her folks were naturalized American citizens from Japan, and her dad taught us judo, so “defending herself” was a very early capability!
jonesb: Note that I noted the difference between people’s “political” posture, vs “religious”. I was drawing from personal experience with some folks who are “Libertarians” politically, but still fall back to their “religious teachings”, and that is what seems “odd”, but in the U.S., not unusual. Just as “conservatives” demanding “religious freedom”, mean ONLY for their personal and typically fundamentalist Christian, beliefs.
And if your want to keep your 4th grade girl friend, you may keep her, for all time and in perpetuity. AIN’ NO LIE! AIN’ NO CHANGE!IF YOU WANNA CONTINUE TA LIE< YOU AND HE WILL! CAUSE HE E_EN BREAKS HIS OWN LAWS!
Hmmmm, I point out that a 6 year old giving a kiss is an innocent gesture that “bluenose” folks (which has always equated to the religious intolerance and “blue laws”) find offensive, turns on some diatribes against homosexuals or anyone “different” from the speaker- especially with a strong religious “bent”; I rest my case.

You are wrong; it was on the hand. Either way, he is a kid, not a sex criminal.

Prepotencia. That’s a word we have to describe what is going on.
Most unprofessional and petty.
